Abortion: Fact vs. Fiction (Video)

Abortion is one of the most controversial and hotly debated political topics in the United States today–and that debate is about to hit a fever pitch, given the double whammy of a looming nomination to the Supreme Court and threats by the Republican party to cut off all federal funding to Planned Parenthood. As such, now might be a good time to step back and take a look at some of the most common claims about abortion and evaluate them in terms of how they match up with data.

In the weeks and months ahead, we are sure to hear a lot from politicians and political commentators on cable news about when most abortions take place, how they are performed, how safe the procedure is, as well as the effectiveness of anti-abortion laws. So that you might be better able to separate fact from fiction, check out the brief video below from our friends over at ASAP Science in which they review what the research says about all of these aspects of abortion.
